Hope you all are doing well.
Today would be kind of rant or spout topic where I really want to shout out and say that body shaming is not okay at all.
Hey, he/she looks so fat he/she must be having some health issues or he/she booze a lot!!
Hey, he/she looks so skinny get him/her a full sized cheese burst pizza!!
Hey, her face is full of pimples, maybe she has some hormonal issues!!
Hey, he/she is short, so tall!!
Hey, he/she is so dark!!
Hey, she does so much of makeup!!
Comm’n people stop pointing such nonsense things to people, everyone is aware of themselves, and everyone knows how to take care of themselves, these days in the name of constructive criticism people make fun of people, which is resulting in people going into depression, suicidal attempts, hating themselves, losing self confidence etc,.
No one is perfect out here everyone one of us has a lot of faults if you know how to become slim, how to put on weight, how to become fair etc, and if you tried and worked out for you or someone then try to suggest them rather asking them to consult a doctor or suggesting some random things, later resulting in a lot of side effects, because everyone would constantly work for themselves, and no one like to look bad.
Body shaming is one of the biggest problems in today’s generation. Society doesn’t just find humor in degrading a woman’s body; they also find humor in degrading a man’s body. Body shaming has become a problem for both genders. People take their own insecurities and aim them at other people to make themselves feel better about their own body.
Today’s generation does not see anything wrong in “expressing their opinions,” regardless of the fact that these very opinions can actually hurt someone. which is resulting in people following some wrong diet or even starving to lose weight, taking sedatives or wrong supplements to become instantly fair or get rid of body scars etc,
The saddest part is, that girl who was fat lost some fat and going towards her healthy fitness journey, but there come a comment saying, hey you know what she has taken some sedatives and lost weight or she has done some surgery, the same goes to any other kind of body shaming. Really people are you so jobless to comment or make a statement over someone?????
Saying all these I just remember one of the body shaming I went through a few years back, a few years back dunno out of blue due to stress or something I faced severe cystic acne all of a sudden, and as usually many started commenting on that, and one lady who was a complete stranger to me came to me and said, hey what happened to you, you have got so much of pimples, that looks really bad, get some treatment, I’m telling this to you because you know right society expect a girl to have a perfect skin. Really??? is there any chart that a girl should be like this or else she has to die???
When I was obese, I encountered my share of body bullying. My food choices were scoffed at. I was presumed to be lazy… among many other things. Some people even defended their hurtful words by saying they were performing some kind of “health activism.” But, to me, it felt like bullying, pure and simple, and it only served to feed the self-hatred I already felt. But later I came across wonderful platform through one of my nearest people, which actually helped me to be fit and fine, but there it didn’t end, people starting commenting on the food I eat and since I lift weights at gym some people told me not to lift too heavy or I would look like a man. Body shaming never ends if the people are always negative about everything.
Body shaming turns into unhealthy habits such as extreme dieting or excessive exercise.Telling girls that “guys love a woman with curves” so that they feel inferior to thicker women is just as bad as telling a woman that she is fat. Just like telling someone that they need to eat a cheeseburger because they are too skinny is not a compliment. Both fat and skinny people are becoming too critical of themselves because of comments made by others. It destroys their self-confidence.
Body shaming has to stop. We have to stop tearing people down because they don’t fit the standard that we created in the first place. We also have to stop judging people based on their appearances. There is no lower place than hating yourself because of the way you look and it is not fair that we are pushing people to that point. We need to be accepting of all body types and all complexions. We need to encourage each other rather than bring each other down and we have to understand that our bodies are different, both inside and out. Our bodies are beautiful, whether we are thick, thin, curvy, dark or fair or not we are flawless. We were created to be different, and we need to learn to love those differences.
There is no such thing called, perfect body, perfect skin, it’s our mindset which needs to get perfect, by stopping body shaming others.
Few of my favorite quotes against body shaming:
When you Judge a person over there body/looks, it doesn’t define them, it defines you!!
You don’t encourage people to take care of their body by telling them to hate it!!. – Laci green
Don’t change your body to get respect from society. Instead, change society to respect our bodies.!! – Golda Poretsky
I stand in Awe of my body!! – Henry David Thoreau
